Malta charter Airline “SkyUp MT Limited” & Moldova charter Airline “Fly One” have obtained their Foreign Air Operator Certificates (FAOC) recently from the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL).

Mr. P. A. Jayakantha, Director General of Civil Aviation & Chief Executive Officer (DGCA & CEO) awarded the FAOCs to Mr. Thilak Weerasinghe who is the Chairman of LSR as the Local Agent for both airlines.

Initially SkyUp MT Limited is planning to operate five flights per week, and  Fly One is planning to operate one flight per week to Mattala Airport. Boeing 737 aircraft will be used for the operations.

Mr. Thilan Kularathna, Senior Civil Aviation Inspector, Mr. Dhanushka Gunasinghe, Civil Aviation Inspector of the CAASL and Mr. Lalithra Pallegamgoda from Local Agent were also present on this occasion.

Rosssiya Airlines received the Foreign Air Operator Certificate (FAOC) recently from the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) after satisfying the necessary technical and operational requirements in line with the government policy to offer more pathways for foreign airlines to operate flights in to Sri Lanka.

The FAOC was handed over by Mr. P. A. Jayakantha, Director General of Civil Aviation & Chief Executive Officer (DGCA & CEO) to Mr. Nikita Dolgov, Head of Planning and Operations of Rossiya Airlines.

Initially the airline is planning to 04 direct flights from Moscow, utilizing Boeing 777 aircraft.

Mr. Thilan Kularathna, Senior Civil Aviation Inspector & Mr. Dhanushka Gunasinghe, Civil Aviation Inspector of the CAASL, Ms. Padma Beddewela, & Ms. Sameena Thissera from Local Agent of Rossiya Airlines were also present on this occasion.

 

 

 

   

 

 

The Australian Government gifted 12 laptop computers installed with CASTRA X-Ray tutor software, assisting Sri Lanka’s civil aviation to upgrade the existing system towards Computer Based Training (CBT) which will enhance training and certification process of aviation security Screeners & Managers.

These capacity building technical assistance were handed over by the Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Paul Stephens at a simple ceremony held at the “Australia House” in Colombo.

The Director General of Civil Aviation Sri Lanka, P. A. Jayakantha, and officials from Government of Australia Michael Burke, the 01st Assistant Secretary of Department of Home Affairs, Chris Alexiou, Counsellor (Transport), Department of Home Affairs and officials representing Sri Lanka’s aviation industry too were present at this occasion.

Director General of Civil Aviation Sri Lanka, Paying a tribute to the Government of Australia and its Nations for coming out with various humanitarian assistance when Sri Lanka was most needed, apart from Civil Aviation Security Capacity enhancement. 

In the year 2021, have gifted three (03) Explosive Trace Detectors and provided operator training for 150 numbers of personnel in categories of AVSEC Screeners and Managers. Sri Lanka aviation industry is the beneficiary of Australia’s continued support towards the ICAO Global Aviation Security Programme (GASP) to become a reality.

The Explosive Detectors has strengthen Sri Lanka’s capacity for explosive trace detection capability at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

Sri Lanka & Australia diplomatic relationship which began in 1957, now embarked on its 76th year. 

ශ්‍රී ලංකා සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා ආරක්ෂක කටයුතු ජාත්‍යන්තර සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා ප්‍රමිතීන්ට අනුකූලව පවත්වාගෙන යනු වස් සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා අධ්‍යක්ෂක ජනරාල් හා ප්‍රධාන විධායක නිලධාරී  පී.ඒ. ජයකාන්ත මැතිතුමාගේ ඉල්ලීම මත එක්සත් රාජධානියේ ලියාපදිංචි, ඇමරිකා එක්සත් ජනපදයේ මුදල් ප්‍රතිපාදන මත දැනට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කටයුතු කරන මයින්ස්  අඩ්වයිසරි ගෘරූප් ආයතනය මගින් ජාත්‍යන්තර ප්‍රමිතීන්ට අනුව නිෂ්පාදනය කරන ලද අවි ගබඩා කිරීමේ කැබිනට්ටු දෙකක් (02) සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා අධිකාරිය වෙත 14.12.2023 දින පරිත්‍යාග කරන ලදී.

මෙම අවි ගබඩා කිරීමේ කැබිනට්ටු දෙක (02) සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා  අධ්‍යක්ෂක ජනරාල් හා ප්‍රධාන විධායක නිලධාරී පී.ඒ. ජයකාන්ත මහතා  විසින් ගුවන් තොටුපොල හා ගුවන් සේවා සමාගමේ සභාපති අතුල ගල්කැටිය මහතා වෙත හා බණ්ඩාරනායක ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන් තොටුපොලට අනුයුක්ත ශ්‍රී ලංකා ගුවන් හමුදා කඳවුරේ අණදෙන නිලධාරී ජී.එස්.එන්. ප්‍රියදර්ශන මහතා වෙත 15.12.2023 දින සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා අධිකාරියේදී නිල වශයෙන් ලිඛිතව භාරදෙන ලදී.

මෙම අවි ගබඩා කිරීමේ කැබිනට්ටු දෙක (02) බණ්ඩාරනායක ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන් තොටුපොලේ අධිඅරක්ෂිත කලාපය තුල සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා ආරක්ෂක කටයුතු සදහා භාවිතා කරන අවි ආයුධ ගබඩා කිරීම සදහා යොදා ගන්නා ලෙස සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා  අධ්‍යක්ෂක ජනරාල් හා ප්‍රධාන විධායක නිලධාරීතුමා විසින් උපදෙස් ලබා දෙන ලදි.

 

The 58th Conference of the Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of ICAO Asia and Pacific Regions began at Dhaka, Bangladesh on 15th October through 19th with approximately the 350 delegates, representing 47 countries and 13 international organizations related to Civil Aviation.

The conference is being attended by Directors General of States in Asia-Pacific Regions, as well as official guests including ICAO President Salvatore Saquitano, Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar, Regional Director Tao Ma and a team from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Transportation and Security Administration (TSA).

During the conference deliberating will cover various critical aspects of the aviation sector, including aviation safety & security, facilitation, air navigation, air transport development, environmental disaster prevention, capacity building, Next Generation Aviation Professional’s (NGAP) and their practical implementations.

The event focused to formulate the recommendations to enhance the region's aviation landscape. The Director General of Civil Aviation, Sri Lanka, Mr. P A Jayakantha too in attendance at this conference. He is also the Moderator for Aviation Security & Facilitation discussions.  

Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, The Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) presiding over the conference as the taking over Chairman.

Sri Lanka had hosted the 53rd DGCA Conference in the year 2016 with the President of Sri Lanka attended.
