The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval for Sri Lanka to host the 21st Steering Committee Meeting of the Cooperative Aviation Security Programme – Asia Pacific (CASP-AP) and the 14th Regional Aviation Security Coordination Forum. The honour of holding the Chairmanship of the CASP-AP Steering Committee for the 2026–2027 term has been bestowed upon Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL)
These high-level international meetings are expected to bring together senior aviation security officials, regulatory authorities, representatives of international organizations, and industry experts from across the Asia-Pacific region. Discussions will focus on emerging aviation security challenges, global trends, international standards, and measures to further strengthen regional cooperation in aviation security.
Hosting these prestigious international forums in Sri Lanka reflects the confidence placed by the international community in the country’s aviation security framework and capabilities. It will further strengthen Sri Lanka’s position as a reliable and proactive partner in the field of aviation security within the Asia-Pacific region.
This opportunity is significant to Sri Lanka’s aviation sector and reaffirms the country’s commitment to implementing the aviation security standards and recommended practices established by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) will play the leading role in organizing and hosting these international events. මෙවැනි වැදගත් ජාත්යන්තර සමුළු ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පැවැත්වීම තුළින් රටේ ගුවන්සේවා ආරක්ෂක පද්ධතිය පිළිබඳ ජාත්යන්තර ප්රජාව තබා ඇති විශ්වාසය පිළිබිඹු කරන අතර, ශ්රී ලංකාව කලාපීය ගුවන්සේවා ආරක්ෂක ක්ෂේත්රයේ විශ්වාසදායක සහ ක්රියාකාරී හවුල්කරුවෙකු ලෙස ස්ථාපිත කිරීමට දායක වනු ඇත.
මෙම අවස්ථාව අප රටට ඉතා වැදගත් හා විශේෂිත අවස්ථාවක් වන අතර, ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ගුවන්සේවා ක්ෂේත්රයේ වැදගත් සන්ධිස්ථානයක් සනිටුහන් වනු ඇත.
මෙම අවස්ථාව ශ්රී ලංකාවේ ගුවන්සේවා ක්ෂේත්රයට විශේෂ වැදගත්කමක් ගෙන එන අතර, ජාත්යන්තර සිවිල් ගුවන්සේවා සංවිධානය (ICAO) විසින් හඳුන්වා දී ඇති ගුවන්සේවා ආරක්ෂක ප්රමිතීන් හා නිර්දේශ ක්රියාත්මක කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් ශ්රී ලංකාවේ කැපවීම තවදුරටත් තහවුරු කරයි.
ශ්රී ලංකා සිවිල් ගුවන්සේවා අධිකාරිය (CAASL) මෙම ජාත්යන්තර සමුළු සංවිධානය හා සත්කාරකත්වයේ ප්රධාන භූමිකාව ඉටු කරනු ලබන අතර, එමගින් අධිකාරියේ ආයතනික හැකියාවන්, වෘත්තීය නිපුණත්වය සහ ජාත්යන්තර මට්ටමේ කටයුතු සාර්ථකව සංවිධානය කිරීමේ දක්ෂතාවය පිළිබිඹු කිරීමට අවස්ථාව සැලසේ.
තවද, මෙම සංසද ශ්රී ලංකාවේ පැවැත්වීම තුළින් අප රටේ ගුවන් සේවාව පිළිබඳව පවතින ආරක්ෂාව සනාථ වන අතරම, ජාත්යන්තර ගුවන්සේවාවේ විශ්වාසනීයත්වය මත, සංචාරක කර්මාන්තය සහ ජාත්යන්තර සබඳතා තවදුරටත් ශක්තිමත් වනු ඇත. එසේම කලාපීය හා ගෝලීය මට්ටමේ දැනුම හුවමාරුව, ධාරිතා වර්ධනය (capacity building) සහ කලාපීය හා ගෝලීය මට්ටමින් ගුවන්සේවා ආරක්ෂාව පිළිබඳ නවීන තාක්ෂණයන් සහ නවීන තාක්ෂණික මෙවලම් භාවිතය පිළිබඳ මනා දැනුමක් ලබා ගැනීමට ඉඩ ප්රස්ථාව උදාවනු ඇත.

ශ්රී ලංකා සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා අධිකාරියේ කාර්යාල සංසදයේ ක්රියාකාරීත්වය, මෙතෙක් අත්කරගෙන ඇති ප්රගතිය සහ ඉදිරි සංවර්ධන සැලසුම් පිළිබඳ ප්රගති සමාලෝචන වැඩසටහනක් අද (16) සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා අධිකාරියේ කෝකිල ශ්රවණාගාරයේදී පැවැත්විණි.
මෙම සමාලෝචන වැඩසටහනේදී කාර්යාල සංසදයේ සේවක සහභාගීත්වය ප්රවර්ධනය කිරීම, කළමනාකාරීත්වය හා සේවකයන් අතර සහයෝගීතාව ශක්තිමත් කිරීම, සේවා ස්ථානය තුළ ඵලදායී සංවාදයක් ගොඩනැගීම සහ සේවක සුබසාධනය වර්ධනය කිරීම සඳහා ක්රියාත්මක කර ඇති වැඩසටහන් හා ක්රියාමාර්ග පිළිබඳ පුළුල් වශයෙන් සාකච්ඡා කෙරිණි.
එමෙන්ම කාර්යාල සංසදය ආරම්භ කිරීමෙන් අනතුරුව ක්රියාත්මක කරන ලද වැඩසටහන්, අත්කරගත් ප්රගතිය, මුහුණ දුන් අභියෝග සහ ඉදිරි සංවර්ධන සැලසුම් පිළිබඳව ජාත්යන්තර කම්කරු සංවිධානයේ (ILO) නියෝජිතයන් වෙත කරුණු ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලදී. මෙහිදී ජාත්යන්තර කම්කරු සංවිධානයේ නියෝජිතයන් විසින් ශ්රී ලංකා සිවිල් ගුවන් සේවා අධිකාරියේ කාර්යාල සංසදයේ ක්රියාකාරීත්වය සහ මෙතෙක් අත්කරගෙන ඇති ප්රගතිය ඇගයීමට ලක් කළ අතර, සංසදයේ සේවක සහභාගීත්වය සහ ආයතනික සුහදතාවය වර්ධනය කිරීම සඳහා ගෙන ඇති පියවර පිළිබඳ සිය ප්රශංසාව ද පළ කළහ.
එමෙන්ම අභ්යන්තර සේවක ගැටලු කාර්යාල සංසදය හරහා ඵලදායී ලෙස විසඳා ගැනීම මඟින් ආයතනයේ සේවා කාර්යක්ෂමතාව ඉහළ නංවා මහජනතාව වෙත වඩාත් ගුණාත්මක හා කාර්යක්ෂම සේවාවක් සැපයීමේ වැදගත්කම පිළිබඳව ද මෙහිදී අවධානය යොමු කෙරිණි.

Mr. Azhar Ansari, Area Manager – South Asia, and Mr. Buddhika Hewawasam, Industry Affairs Manager – Sri Lanka, representing the International Air Transport Association (IATA), paid a courtesy call on the Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), Capt. Daminda Rambukwella, at the CAASL headquarters.
During the meeting, discussions were held on a range of matters of mutual interest and strategic importance to the aviation sector, including the implementation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, the enhancement of aviation safety standards, the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA), and the effective implementation of economic regulations within Sri Lanka’s civil aviation industry.
The meeting underscored the longstanding and constructive partnership between CAASL and IATA, reaffirming their shared commitment to fostering the safe, secure, sustainable, and orderly development of civil aviation in Sri Lanka in line with international best practices and standards.
Also present at the meeting were Mr. Rayhan Wanniappa, Deputy Director General (Air Transport and Security Regulation), Mr. Asanga Liyanarachchi, Director (Air Transport and Economic Regulations), together with other senior officials of the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), under the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) Sri Lanka Programme, successfully conducted a programme titled “Engineering Pathways to the Aviation Industry” for members of the Women Engineers Forum (WEF) of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) on 08 June 2026.
The programme brought together approximately 100 engineers representing diverse engineering disciplines and provided them with a valuable opportunity to gain insight into the specialized engineering fields that support Sri Lanka’s aviation industry.
The event commenced with a morning session at the CAASL Auditorium in Katunayake and concluded with an educational field visit to Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), offering participants both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to aviation engineering operations.
The programme was organized by CAASL in collaboration with Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited (AASL), SriLankan Airlines (SLA), Sri Lanka Catering (SLC), and SriLankan Aviation College (SLAC).
The event was Organized under the guidance of the Capt. Daminda Rambukwella - Director General of Civil Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of CAASL with the participation of Mr. Sunil Jayarathne - Chairman of CAASL, Eng. (Mrs). Lilani Ruhunage Director General Engineering, Ministry of Ports & Civil Aviation, Mr. Rayhan Wanniappa, Deputy Director General (Air Transport and Security Regulation) and Mr. L.P. Dahanayake - Deputy Director General (Flight Safety Regulation), Also present was Eng. (Lt. Col.) Kushmy Suriyapperuma, Chairperson of the Women Engineers Forum (WEF) of IESL, together with representatives of the collaborating organizations, resource persons, and participating engineers.
Technical presentations were delivered by experienced aviation professionals representing CAASL, SriLankan Airlines, and Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited.
The sessions focused on the diverse engineering disciplines that play a critical role in supporting aviation operations, including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering and Air Navigation, Air Navigation Services Engineering, and Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance.
The presentations provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the infrastructure, systems, technologies, and operational requirements that underpin the safe, secure, and efficient functioning of Sri Lanka’s aviation sector. The programme also highlighted the wide range of professional opportunities available for engineers within the aviation industry.
During the field visit to Bandaranaike International Airport, participants were afforded the opportunity to observe various engineering applications and airport facilities, enabling them to gain first-hand exposure to the practical implementation of engineering principles within a complex aviation environment.
The programme served as an important platform for knowledge sharing and professional engagement between the engineering community and the aviation sector. It further supported the objectives of the NGAP Sri Lanka Programme in promoting awareness of aviation careers and inspiring greater interest among professionals in contributing to the future development of the aviation industry.
