The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) successfully conducted the PEL Knowledge Examiner Certification Award Ceremony on 19 June 2026 at the Kokila Conference Room under the distinguished leadership of Captain Daminda Rambukwella, Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Chief Executive Officer of CAASL.

The ceremony marked an important milestone in strengthening Sri Lanka’s aviation personnel licensing framework by recognizing and certifying qualified PEL Knowledge Examiners who will contribute to maintaining the highest standards of competency, safety, and regulatory compliance within the aviation sector.

The event commenced with remarks by Mr. C. M. William, Senior Civil Aviation Inspector, who emphasized the importance of continuously improving aviation regulatory systems and processes to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving digital era.

The event also featured addresses by Mr. Asanga Liyanarachchi, Acting Director – Training Organization and Personnel Licensing,  Mr. Lasantha Pramod Dahanayake, Deputy Director General – Flight Safety Regulations,  and Mr. M. A. K. Prasanna, Deputy Director General – Aeronautical Services Regulations. Their remarks focused on training development, safety standards, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvements to personnel licensing systems.

Addressing the gathering, Captain Daminda Rambukwella, DGCA & CEO, emphasized the critical role of PEL Knowledge Examiners in maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of Sri Lanka’s aviation personnel licensing system. He also highlighted the growing importance of digitalization in aviation and CAASL’s commitment to embracing modern technologies to enhance regulatory oversight, operational efficiency, and service delivery.

During the ceremony, certificates and appointment letters were awarded to newly certified PEL Knowledge Examiners in the Flight Crew Licensing (FCL), Air Traffic Control (ATC), Flight Operations Officer (FOO), Aircraft Maintenance Licensing (AML), English Language Proficiency Check (ELPC), and Flight Instructor – Restricted (FI-Restricted) categories, authorizing them to conduct knowledge and viva examinations in their respective disciplines.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the successful completion of the ceremony and reaffirming CAASL’s commitment to developing a competent aviation workforce while maintaining internationally recognized standards in aviation personnel licensing and safety oversight.
